The weather has been the only disappointment this week! Les Tabacs has been perfect for us; excellently appointed, extremely comfortable and with superb hosts, John and Chrissie. Despite the clouds, we did manage to use the delightful pool a few times!
Dear John and Chrissie, thank you for the lovely stay. We had a great time, the kids loved the pool, playing pétanque and fishing for tiddlers from the pontoon with daddy (when the big ones weren't biting). The set-up at Les Séchoirs is perfect. The area was lovely, with lots of beautiful Medieval Villages close by and we ate like kings and queens in restaurants that were just a short drive (or even walk away). Plus, of course, The Lot, right on your doorstep is a treat. We only managed one carp in the hot weather and something ran off with 5 huge halibut pellets (perhaps a big catfish), but we didn't connect as my hook was probably too small. If we're ever visiting this area of France again, Les Séchoirs would be hard to beat. Thanks again.
We arrived at Les Séchoirs on August 12th for our holiday of 2 weeks in Les Pêcheurs. When we got there, we met John and he gave us a tour of the gîte and the garden.Because we arrived late, John and Chrissie had ordered pizzas and drinks for us at the local takeaway which we really appreciated! It shows how much John and Chrissie care about their guests! The gîte was beautiful and had everything we needed for a great holiday. On the terrace we had a lovely view of the river Lot which was especially beautiful during breakfast, early in the morning. The swimming pool was great to relax and cool down during the hot days we had.We had access to 2 fishing pontoons, but the one close to the terrace was off limits for nightfishing, which makes sense because it's very close to the gîtes and the main house. There was also a rowboat we had access to which was very useful for ground baiting and putting the lines exactly where you want them.In our 2 weeks we caught 4 catfish ranging from 8-10 KG and a bunch of bream. No carp unfortunately but then again, the middle of the summer, with most days above 30 degrees isn't the best time to fish for carp. There's a supermarket and a bakery within walking distance from the gîte, which was very convenient!Of course we also made a few trips to other places. Bordeaux is a beautiful city and definitely worth a visit! About 3 hours driving south, there's a park called “National Park Pyrenees” which is 100% worth a visit if you love nature. There are several tours you can take which all start in a different town. Mountains, lakes, waterfalls, they're all there for you to be discovered! We've had a lovely 2 weeks at Les Séchoirs and the friendliness and hospitality of John and Chrissie definitely played a big role in that!Sadly we had to go back home after 2 weeks but we will definitely be back in the future! Many thanks, John and Chrissie !Hylco,Elina,Daniel and Channah van MerodeThe Netherlands
Every bit as impressive as the photos and more! The views of the river from the bedrooms were wonderful and from the infinity pool even better. We in Les Tabacs and the extra living space more than made up for the short walk round to the riverside deck; the styling touches were just enough to make it special without becoming kitsch. Everything was clean and well-maintained and well-equipped. Our hosts, John and Chrissie, could not have been more welcoming and full of helpful knowledge and tips to make the most of enjoying the area. The local supermarket was a pleasant few minutes walk away along the riverside and stocked everything we needed so self-catering could not have been easier. Beyond Clairac, we explored several of the bastide villages and a trip to Chateau Bonaguil was a real hit with our teenage daughters ("It's Narnia!"). Only the pleasure of lazing in and by the pool prevented us from enjoying more of what the area had to offer. Overall, the best two weeks of holiday we have had in years. Many thanksStephen, Ruth, Catherine and Lizzie
Thank you for your lovely review and we are delighted that you enjoyed your time with us so much. We hope to see you again; perhaps in Les Pêcheurs next time!
Mariele, Paul, Jasper, Lieke.
Thank you very much for your kind remarks. You were a lovely family to host and we really hope to see you again.
